Dr. Robert M. Hersh
Dr. Robert Hersh has lived in Brooklyn since he was two years old. He received his BA in biology from Brandeis University in 1978, and his DMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1982. He completed a 2 year General Practice Residency at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, and he taught at Brookdale from 1984 to 1992.
During September 1983 Dr. Rob spent a month as a volunteer dentist, treating underprivileged immigrants, in Sderot, in the Negev desert of Israel. In 1984 he was awarded a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry after having completed over 500 post-graduate hours of continuing education, as well as passing a rigorous written exam. In 1984 he married Meryl Nagourney and he joined his father Dr. Harold Hersh (z"l), who founded the practice in 1958.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Dr. Robert is dedicated to delivering superb, high quality dentistry to his patients. He seeks out and employs the latest advances that technology has to offer. He is certified in Invisalign (a high tech method of aligning teeth without braces), and he is one of the first general dentists in New York to incorporate using a clinical microscope in all phases of restorative dentistry. Recently, he joined Dr. Alan Winter and Dr. Alan Pollack of APW Imaging, and installed an iCAT Cone Beam Tomography x-ray unit, the latest in 3 dimensional dental imaging.

Drs. Robert & Meryl are blessed with three wonderful children, David Amanda, and Andrew.
Dr. Michael Katzap
Born in the Ukraine, raised in Israel, Dr. Mike came to the USA at the age of 16. He obtained his B.S. from Queens College followed by a DDS degree from New York University College of Dentistry (1995). After graduation Dr. Mike began a General Practice Residency at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center.
Dr. Mike served as chief resident in the department of dental and oral surgery and was awarded Resident of the Year (1995-1996). He then took a position with the Brookdale Dental Implant Group, a hospital based fellowship program in surgical and reconstructive disciplines of Oral Implantology.
Graduating in 1999, Dr. Katzap entered private practice. A year later, Dr. Katzap was awarded an associate fellowship at the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. In July of 2000 Dr. Katzap was recruited for the position of program director and coordinator of the general practice residency program iat Brookdale. In 2001 he became the co-director of the Implant Fellowship program at Brookdale Hospital.
In addition to being involved in clinical and academic teaching of implant dentistry since 1997; Dr. Katzap has logged in more than 1000 hours of continuing education in various subjects, including completing a comprehensive two year course in Orthodontics taught by the United States Dental Institute.
Dr. Katzap published in the Journal of Oral Imaplntology; Lectured at various dental meeting, and won first prize for a clinic presented at the Greater Long Island Dental Meeting.
Dr. Michael speaks Hebrew and Russian (working on Klingon); He lives in Kew Gardens, Queens, with his wife Inessa and their children Samuel and Abigail (Michael’s greatest accomplishment to date).
